Our Beginning

On April 19, 1919, 39 persons were organized as St. John’s Presbyterian Church. The parlors of the St. Aubin YWCA were secured and used until mid-summer when a small church building, with manse attached, at Catherine and Dubois was purchased.

The land at E. Lafayette Blvd. and St. Aubin was purchased on January 17, 1965. Ground breaking ceremony was held on January 30, 1966 with the corner stone laying on June 19, 1966.  Final service in the old church was December 18, 1966 and our first service being held Christmas Day, December 25, 1966.
